My dentist thinks I’m drinking too many soft drinks. Is it OK to drink diet ones instead because they don’t have sugar?

Cameron,
Diet sodas can also cause tooth decay even without sugar because they contain Mannitol, Sorbitol, or Saccharine. They break down in your mouth as acid. Acid is very bad for your teeth because it erodes your tooth enamel. That will make you more likely to have tooth decay.
You don’t have to completely swear off sodas, just limit your consumption to one or two a week. To protect yourself further, make sure you rinse out your mouth afterward in order to neutralize the acid.
