I think it is time to update my smile. I’m 52 years old and my style is starting to give away my age. I mentioned it to my dentist. He suggested CEREC veneers, saying it’s just as good as a lab. I keep hearing veneers in a lab are the way to go. Do you have any advice?

Your gut feeling is right. An expert cosmetic dentist would cringe at the idea of using a CEREC machine for a smile makeover. Though, it may be all your dentist knows.
A CEREC machine will mill your veneers out of a single block of porcelain. That won’t have the same subtle variations you see in natural teeth, and you can get with an expert cosmetic dentist who uses traditional porcelain veneers with an equally skilled lab.
Don’t pressure your dentist to do something he’s not ready to do. Ask to see the results of smile makeovers he’s done. Make sure he’s able to get gorgeous results. Don’t settle.
You may have to make a choice: use CEREC or use a different dentist to get porcelain veneers.
