My daughter, who’s four, had an injury that damaged her tooth. It has turned gray. I wanted to get it whitened, but my dentist said no. I think he felt I was overreacting, but I don’t want the other children to make fun of her.

Cassie,
I can appreciate that you’re worried about your daughter’s emotional development. You also want her to have positive social interactions. However, your dentist was right. Teeth whitening isn’t actually an option for her.
The type of stains you’re talking about aren’t external. They’re from a dying tooth. The whitening procedure won’t work.
I don’t think you’ll have much to work with. Children are great. If your daughter is confident, the other children will usually respond in kind. Then the tooth will fall out and she’ll have the status of being the first child to lose a tooth.
