I’m wanting to up my smile. I was thinking teeth whitening. There is a Groupon going around right now for premium home whitening. Is this a legitimate method?

Samantha,
Looking at their website, it appears their teeth whitening ingredient is 35% carbamide peroxide. That is a legitimate whitening agent, which will be effective. That being said, I have some concerns.
1. The light they advertise as an accelerant for the whitening process seems bogus, but the whitening will still happen.
2. The whitening trays will not fit well. When you get professional teeth whitening, the dentist will create custom fit trays that will fit snug to your exact bite. Not only does that make the whitening gel more effective, it protects your gums. Premium Home Whitening’s trays are generic. The gel will leak and your gums will be negatively affected.
3. The Premium Home Whitening Kit is as expensive as the teeth whitening you can get under the supervision of a dentist.
Teeth whitening is a fantastic way to upgrade your smile. In fact, that procedure alone will take years off your appearance. However, if you’re looking for a stunning smile makeover, I’d look into porcelain veneers. They can change not just the color of your teeth, but their shape and size as well. Many cosmetic dentists even have a beautiful smile guarantee.
