Can you tell me if it is required to wear a nightguard in order to get Lumineers? My dentist says he doesn’t think I can get Lumineers without a nightguard.

I hope you misunderstood your dentist. If you had a teeth grinding habit, it would be fine if he said that it wouldn’t be wise for you to get Lumineers without a night guard, but he’d have no right to misrepresent your ability to get them. In fact, the Lumineers company would have no such restrictions.
If you do have a grinding habit, it would be wise to get a night guard. If you’re going to invest as much money in your smile as you would with Lumineers, you’d want to protect your investment.
Though Lumineers are strong, a grinding habit can wreak havoc not only on your veneers, but your bite, leading to TMJ.
That doesn’t mean your dentist can hold your treatment hostage. If he’s doing that, it’s unethical.
